My visit to Pune.

Last week, I had been to Pune to attend a national seminar on "SOI toposheet..." held at SP College. On the occasion I presented a lead paper and chaired a session also. A field visit to Sinhagad was arranged by the organising committee. It provides a scenic view of the Pune city and Khadakwasala reservoir. It is about 25-30 km away from Pune city. After the seminar I went to see the famous Shaniwar wada palace ruins.

This year we started an innovative practice. It is a CRASH COURSE of 21 days on "Minerals and Ore Minerals" for the benefit of Ayurveda Medical students of Rasashastra Department, to provide them basic knowledge on how to identify a mineral or a ore mineral which they use as a "RASA" to prepare the medicine. I was the co-ordinator for this course and had prepared a 13 module syllabus with a field visit to near by mine area to show the students the natural availaiblity of the ores/minerals. The students have been most benefited. Some of the students have selected me as co-guide for their PG dissertations.
