Bottle neck injection of quartz veins.
At Sogal hill top.

Ripple marks on way to Savdatti

Igneous intrusion at Sogal showing contact metamorphism.

Fold structure in the quartzite.

Metaconglomerate bed.
Geological Study tour to Sogal and Savdatti, Belgaum District for B.Sc.III Sem students was conducted on 1 October 2012.

Geological Study tour to Kanbargi, Belgaum.

Geological study tour to Ulavi-Syntheri Rock

25th Feb 2012, we took B.Sc. students to Ulavi caves and Syntheri rock. At Ulavi, we saw crystalline limestone with folded structure. Inside the caves stalactite and stalagmites are beautifully preserved especially at "Akalgavi". At Syntheri Rock, the bottom of the rock cliff exhibits folded structure (marked in the photograph) above which the folds are not seen, except at one place the faintly preserved remnants of the fold is visible. The folded rocks and the basement seems to be schist, where as, on the rock cliff granitisation (whitish colored) is observed. To confirm, we need to collect sample (which is quite tough and risky) and detailed analysis. This is just a preliminary observation.
